Thank you for your interest in joining Local First Milwaukee as a business member. We accept members who meet the following requirements: 

PLEASE NOTE You may sign up for a basic Listing instead of a Membership at the end of the application process. A Listing includes your business name, address, phone, place on the map and directory listing on our website. You can upgrade by becoming a Member at anytime!

 

Application

Is you business privately held?
Is your business headquartered in the Milwaukee 5-county metropolitan area?
Do the business owners, totaling greater than 50% of the business ownership, live in the Milwaukee 5-county metropolitan area?
Is your business registered in Wisconsin, with no corporate or national headquarters outside Wisconsin?
Can your business make independent decisions regarding the name and look of your business as well as all business purchasing, practices and distribution?
Do you pay all your own marketing, rent and other business expenses (no help from corporate headquarters)?
Do you participate in community activities or local charitable contributions?
Do you agree to support the mission of Local First Milwaukee?
Are you willing to post the Local First Milwaukee decal prominently in your business?
Does your business operate under a franchise, licensing or similar agreement with an entity located outside the Milwaukee area.

Member Dues and Information

Local First Milwaukee advocates for locally owned businesses that provide a genuine, quality experience - in celebration of our community's unique character. Member dues cover the administrative overhead of our association which includes but is not limited to costs associated with our website, marketing, buy local materials, and networking meetings.

Annual Membership Dues

  • $85 (5 or fewer paid employees)
  • $125 (6-24 paid employees)
  • $170 (25 - 50 paid employees)
  • $200 (51 - 100 paid employees)
  • $350 (101 - 200 paid employees)
  • $500 (more than 200 paid employees) 

The Local First Milwaukee membership committee will review your application to be sure your business fits within the criteria set forths in our bylaws and to maintain the integrity of Local First Milwaukee. Upon application approval and payment of annual dues, a welcome packet will be sent to the address you've listed above.

Your signature below verifies that all of the above information is correct and that your participation as a member includes the acceptance of Local First Milwaukee's Bylaws, which will be included in the new member packet.
